News

From the Co-Presidents
Thank you to Rattna Phull and Wissam Khoory for hosting second grade parents/guardians on Saturday night for a fun and festive potluck. This wraps up our parent/guardian potluck season and we are grateful to all who hosted, attended and supported these events. They were a welcome back to “normalcy” this fall as we work toward our PTO’s goals of community building and friend-raising.

Wow! Ward’s first Fall Fest was SO much fun! Thank you to all who attended and did their best chilli tasting, gaga ball playing, craft making and food donating. We are thrilled that so many community members came together for the afternoon. A huge thank you to our fifth grade class (students and parents!) for leading our community in a food drive for the Newton Food Pantry. Thank you also to fifth grade artist Noura Qasem for her hard work on our event fliers. This was a true community event and would not have been possible without the generous help of many Ward parents and families: Kerry Reynolds, Sandhya Strobert, Keren Wainger, Sara Wantman, Rachel Hindin and the Gansner girls and all of our many chili chefs! A special, spicy congratulations to The Ismay Family who will hold the title of “Ward’s Best Chili” for the 2021-2022 school year!

NSF (Newton Schools Foundation)
NSF is seeking a liaison from each school in Newton. Can you represent Ward? The first commitment would be to attend a training session over Zoom with NSF then you would serve as a connection point between NSF and the Ward community - doing such things as sharing grant opportunities with Ward staff and promoting NSF endeavors around Ward. This can all be done from home and on your own time and would only be a commitment of a couple of hours during the entire school year yet would serve a great purpose!

Lost and Found
Missing a jacket? Water bottle? Hat? Anything else? The Ward Lost & Found is filling up fast! Watch for an email with images of items this week and then claim your lost goods. You can always reach out proactively as well to our Lost and Found coordinator, Heba Haddad at hebaqhaddad@gmail.com
