From the Co-Presidents

What an amazing start to Spring with 2 HUGE events checked off and volunteers getting ready for more. The list of people to thank for pulling these off is long and here goes:

The weekend was kicked off with a delightful evening of community bonding, creating memories, and enjoying delicious food at last night's Annual Mystery Dinner! This event requires extensive coordination, and we are immensely grateful to Betsy Blazar and Emily Derr for bringing this event together so beautifully! Their enthusiasm and meticulous planning truly contributed to the event's success, both as a fundraiser and as an enjoyable evening.

We also extend a big thank you to ALL of our hosts - Rattna and Sam Khoory kicked off the evening with a lively appetizer party, setting a wonderful tone. The dinner hosts have received glowing reviews, and Caitlin and Matt Cusick hosted an outstanding dessert party - complete with strobe lights and a dance floor—the coolest party ever!

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our attendees. We are thrilled that you chose to spend the evening with Ward friends and neighbors to support our school. As we always say, it truly takes a village, and we cherish ours!

Today our amazing group of children and their families came by to Ward to clean and beautify our school grounds. A HUGE thank you to Elizabeth Weinberg and Heba Haddad for leading and coordinating this amazing event and bringing our community together to give back. A productive and beautiful day, spent outdoors. Here are a few pictures:

As we move into Teacher Appreciation Week, we encourage students and families to make and send in homemade cards to any and all staff throughout the week ahead. See below for more details of how Ward will celebrate our terrific teachers.

Next up in this busy spring line up - PLEASE sign up below and join us for International Night on May 16. Bring the whole family!
Have a great week,
Rashi

Teacher Appreciation Week
At Ward we show appreciation to our amazing staff all year with potluck breakfasts, catered lunches, holiday gifts and more. This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week and Nurse’s Day. The PTO and our AMAZING Teacher Appreciation Committee have many events planned to show appreciation to ALL staff (shh! This is a surprise):

1. Kitchen re-stock on Monday

2. Two days of chair massages on Tuesday and Friday

3. Lunch on Thursday (early release)

4. Room parents have coordinated flower/plant delivery to all classroom teachers this week.

5. Families are encouraged to make and send in cards to staff members throughout the week. Often times kind words are what is most appreciated!

Ward International Night - 5/16/24

Join us for an exciting adventure without leaving Ward School! Discover diverse cultures, tantalize your taste buds with international flavors, and immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of our global community.

Tables representing different countries will be set up in the outdoor tennis court, offering insights into their unique traditions and customs. From savory delights to intriguing giveaways, each stop promises a new experience! Children will be issued paper passports to collect stamps as they journey through each country, earning delightful prizes along the way.
Would you like to showcase your culture by hosting a table? Sign up here to represent a country and share its wonders with our community!
Do you have a special talent to share, such as a dance or a song? Reach out to LaurenRoopali, or Heba to discuss your performance. We look forward to sharing this unforgettable experience with you. *In case of inclement weather, the event will be relocated to the Ward School Gym.

Newton’s Community Pride Event

Hello! We are the volunteers for Newton’s very own Celebration of Queer Culture (CQC). Celebration of Queer Culture (CQC) is a city-wide, youth-focused Pride event focused on highlighting and providing education for parts of queer culture (specifically queer history, art, music, and intersectionality) that are usually erased or taken out of the spotlight. Created by Rhiannon Esposito and Julia Dun Rappaport, two queer high-school students, we achieve this through a queer history segment, panel highlighting the intersectionality of local queer high schoolers (touching on race, ethnicity, religion, and family make up), queer art display, an art activity, live music, and more! We will also have a separate space with an art activity for younger kids, as well as a resource fair with queer-centered community organizations. This year, CQC will take place on June 15, 2024 at Newton City Hall. For more information and the event layout, check out our website, Instagram (@cqc_newton), or contact us at rhiespo@gmail.com and julia.elizabeth.dun.rappaport@gmail.com. We hope to see you at Celebration of Queer Culture ‘24! Queer Artist Sign-Up Form
