From the Co-Presidents:
We can’t believe the first day of school is almost here! As we officially begin in our roles as PTO co-presidents, we wanted to thank each and every one of you for making Ward the fun, vibrant, and welcoming school community it is. Above all else, our priority is to deepen the bonds between families and with our teachers. We look forward to getting to know even more of you this year and creating opportunities for us to spend time together as a community. We always love to hear from you so please reach out to us anytime at copresidents@wardpto.org with your ideas, thoughts, or questions.
Upcoming Events:
We’re excited to kick off the 2024-25 school year together and we are looking forward to the many upcoming community events. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us at the following:
Classroom Visits @ 1:30 PM + Popsicles in the Park - Thursday 8/29 @ 2PM: Head into Ward to visit your child(ren)’s classroom and meet their teacher(s). At 2PM, meet us on the playground for a chance to chat with old friends and meet new ones! We will have popsicles and a photo backdrop to capture some back to school photos.
First Day + Principal Coffee - Tuesday 9/3 @ 8:10AM: Meet us at the picnic table in front of Ward after drop off for coffee and donuts. Ms. Brogadir will join once students are settled in their classrooms.
Fall Picnic - Monday 9/9 from 5:30-7PM: We hope to see you all on the field for this favorite fall tradition. The PTO will provide pizza and field games from Knucklebones. Many thanks to Katie Megrian (mom to Elouise, grade 1) for coordinating!
Volunteer Opportunities:
Ward has so many special traditions that are made possible by all of you! Thank you again to all our volunteers - we couldn’t do it without you!
Grade Level Potluck Hosts - We’re looking for one host per grade level for this fantastic Ward tradition. Hosts choose a date, provide a space and paper goods, and send an evite - your guests do the rest! We will guide you through it all. Last fall many enjoyed beautiful events outdoors so we encourage hosts to set a date soon to enjoy the September weather. Please email us at copresidents@wardpto.org if you would like to learn more and/or want to host!
Room Parents: We’re looking for 1-2 parents per classroom. The role will vary depending on grade level and the needs of the specific teacher. General responsibilities include 1) coordinating with the teacher to acquire classroom supplies, 2) organizing and identifying volunteers 3) sending emails about upcoming PTO events and volunteer opportunities 4) coordinating teacher gifts. This is a great opportunity to build relationships with the teacher and families and be involved in the PTO.
