Volunteers Needed for Color Day

June 2nd- anytime 9- noon

Color Day is one of those treasured Ward School traditions that is a celebration of sports, good natured competition, and the end of the school year.  Please sign up in the front lobby (see the yellow sheet) or contact mariasullivan18@hotmail.com to help out. If possible, parents should sign up for a 3 hour shift. Even if you can stay for only an hour, any help would be most appreciated.  It's lots of fun and great way to get to know the teachers and kids better.  We also need parents to stay after the famous egg toss  to help clean up (the events, not the eggs!). You may also sign up to purchase Freeze Pops and/or freeze them at your home and deliver to the school at noon that day.

Ward School BannerHelp the Garden for A Week This Summer
Help water and weed for a week this summer.  Volunteers needed now through September for 1 week periods.  Sign up with another family and make it a social event and an excuse to keep in touch over the summer!  The kids love to turn on the sprinker (it turns itself off automatically) and to yank up weeds so the plants and vegetables they helped plant will thrive.   Please contact:  Lili Sloan at ests40@comcast.net.  Each grade planted a bed that ties to a classroom lesson- from a butterfly garden (after studying butterflies) to an immigration garden (after studying Ellis Island) and the vegetables will be harvested for the Newton Food Pantry.   Instruction available if you don't know much about gardening.
